Yes, you read that correctly. On Saturday, December 16, from 4–8pm, the Downtown Fredericksburg Cookie Crawl will take you on a delicious journey. Venture through Downtown with your Cookie Crawl Cookie Tin and collect a baker’s dozen of delicious cookies from vendors throughout town. You’ll also enjoy time to shop as you crawl, discounts at participating businesses, and the possibility to win prizes and gift cards. Cookies and prizes for the holidays? Sounds like a recipe for a good time to us!
And, yes, you read that correctly too. On Tuesday, December 19, and Thursday, December 21 (both at 5:30pm), you’re invited to a holiday event unlike any other: Paint with Possum Santa. For artists of all (and no) skill and experience, enjoy a night of painting, snacking, and having fun. And not only that, but you’ll also be treated to a visit by Santa Possum, himself!

For the second year in a row, Neabsco Regional Park is transforming itself for the holidays. The Holiday Walk of Lights lets you experience the true brightness of the holidays as you walk on a path of hand-crafted light displays. This free event is a perfect way to share the holidays with friends and family. Concessions will be available, music will enhance the light show, and everyone will have a fantastic evening of holiday merriment. Plus, on December 12, the light show will have reduced volume and lower lights so sensory-friendly guests can also enjoy the experience!
As a complement to Neabsco Park’s Holiday Walk of Lights, the Bull Run Festival of Lights lets you enjoy all the lights from the comfort of your own car. Drive on this 2.5-mile path of festive lights and marvel at all the moving light displays. Animated nutcrackers, ice-skating polar bears, and Santa preparing his gifts are just some of the illuminated sights you’ll see. And since you’re in your own car, YOU can be the holiday DJ as you, your family, and your friends enjoy the lights!
Atlantic Builders has been a partner with Habitat for Humanity creating a unique community in the heart of Charlottesville: Southwood. Minutes from Downtown Charlottesville, I-64, UVA, and the 5th Street Shopping Center, the townhomes at Southwood are central to all the great shopping, dining, and entertainment of the area. This holiday experience is truly an experience. Walk along a lake through a trail of lights full of motion, whimsy, and holiday cheer at Winter Wander at Boar’s Head Resort. If it was just the updated-from-last-year light stroll, the Winter Wander would still be worth the trip. But there are many more opportunities for holiday cheer here! There’s an artificial ice skating rink; a market full of food, drink, and presents; and Santa’s Mill, where kids can visit with Mr. and Mrs. Claus!
Your children can also visit Santa at Christmas at the Dairy Market on December 17, from 12–4pm. Set in Dairy Market’s innovative market hall of restaurants and shops, get ready to enjoy and learn the fun art of gingerbread house decorating. There are also free kid-friendly activities, free pictures with Santa, and arts & crafts. Plus, you can teach your children the true meaning of the holidays by bringing a toy for Dairy Market’s 3rd annual Toy Drive. Because sharing and good cheer is what the holidays are really all about.
Waynesboro has been named on lists of Virginia’s best cities for quality of life. With a downtown area that’s experienced a rebirth, local shopping, dining, and arts are thriving. It’s also a town that gives residents easy access to all the best views and activities of the outdoors. This event is fun for the whole family: Each ticket grants the holder a dozen cookies to decorate and one glass of wine or non-alcoholic drink. Experiment with colorful icings, glittery sprinkles, and delicious toppings to make your cookies the most festive of all. All the wines come from local vineyards, so you get ready to explore and experience new tastes and cookie pairings.
On December 17, from 1–4pm, Stable Craft Brewing is hosting a Pints & Ponies with Santa event! This award-winning destination brewery and cidery is serving up delicious hot chocolate, warming mulled cider, and a festive lunch. Pints & Ponies has something for everyone in the family. Plus, Santa Claus will stop by to visit with all the children. And because this event takes place in the stable area of Stable Craft Brewing, there will also be ponies!
